Your smile is important. It’s one of the first things you notice when you meet someone. A whiter, brighter smile is beautiful – it can help you feel better about yourself and make a memorable impression.
Your lifestyle and the aging process can stain and darken your teeth. Many things we do on a regular basis can contribute to stained teeth, such as drinking coffee, tea, cola and red wine or smoking.
At McGue Dental Care we offer two effective teeth whitening options.Make an appointment to discuss which program is best for you;Zoom In-Office Power Whitening or Customized Take Home Whitening. Our free consultation is recommended to ensure you have no underlying oral health issues.
Take-Home Whitening with Customized Trays
At your first visit, impressions will be made of your teeth and custom gel-holding trays will be made to perfectly fit your smile.During your second visit, within 2-3 days, you’ll be fitted for your trays and receive your take-home kit which includes the whitening gel. The trays should be worn for 1 hour per day. While some results may be seen in a couple days, it usually takes up to 5 weeks to see the full whitening of your teeth.
Zoom In-Office Whitening
Zoom In-Office or power whitening makes it possible to achieve a whiter, brighter smile right here in our office in about 1 hour.
Zoom works by shining a special light onto your teeth after they have been coated with a whitening gel. The light works with the gel to release oxygen. The oxygen penetrates the outer enamel layer and then the dentin layer of the teeth, bleaching away stains and discolored areas.
We start the whitening process with protective glasses and lip retractor. We will then isolate the teeth and protect your gums by applying a special protective material to the gum tissue or by placing a rubber dam.
Next, we paint the whitening gel onto your teeth, and while you relax in the dental chair, we shine a light or laser onto the teeth. We may repeat this cycle up to 4 times.
Since every case is different, we carefully evaluate your individual results. Your new smile will lighten, on average, 6 to 10 shades. We also provideinstructions for taking care of your new smile and for handling any post-whitening sensitivity.
By following some simple post whitening care instructions, your teeth will always be lighter than they were before. To keep your teeth looking their best, we recommend flossing, brushing twice daily, and using your custom take home trays to occasionally perform touch-ups with our take-home gel.
The convenience of Zoom in comparison to days of wearing trays and gradual whitening makes it the perfect choice for the busy patient.
